Her father was named John Hennessy. John Hennessy her father worked as a food salesman, director of sales and marketing, which required her to travel frequently. Her family was frequently on the move. In 1982, the mother Maxine quit her family, and her daughter was raised mostly through Eleanor her maternal grandmother, who lives in Kitchener Ontario. The twin sister Jacqueline is an American magazine writer, and her older brother John Paul J.P. Hennessy Jr. was raised in Canada. Hennessy has a lineage that goes back to Irish French Swedish Italian on her father's side, as well as predominantly Ukrainian Roma along with Austrian on her mom's.
